About Sarah Grcevich
I’m a proud resident of Stillwater, where I’ve lived with my husband, Geoff, and our two daughters, Mira (11) and Nadia (4), since 2017. Our family has cherished the sense of community we’ve found here, and we’ve become involved in the local school system. Mira is entering 7th grade at Stillwater Middle School, this fall and Nadia will be starting kindergarten at Rutherford Elementary next year.
I’ve been actively involved in our schools for years. I served as Co-Treasurer of the Rutherford PTA from 2017 to 2019, and for the past two years, I've volunteered as a reading tutor for 3rd and 4th graders through the Volunteers for Elementary School Literacy (VESL) Program. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to helping every student reach their full potential in a fair and research-based way.
I believe that our school district is exceptional. My vision is to ensure that every family within the 834 boundaries knows about the outstanding opportunities our district offers and feels confident in enrolling their children in our public schools. I am passionate about making sure that every child receives a high-quality education and that our schools remain a source of pride for our community.
Literacy
Guided by the Minnesota READ Act, I believe our district should prioritize teaching methods and curricula that are backed by strong research. By focusing on what’s proven to work, we can give our students the best possible education, helping them succeed in both reading and math.
Supporting Our Teachers
Teachers are key to our students' success. As a board member, I’ll support policies that offer ongoing professional development, ensuring our educators have the tools they need to use the best teaching strategies in all subjects, including math and reading. This focus on growth will help keep high standards in our classrooms.
Fiscal Responsibility
Improving educational outcomes needs to be done in a way that’s financially sustainable. I’m committed to making sure our district uses resources wisely, focusing on programs that deliver the most impact for our students. This means looking at partnerships and innovative solutions that improve education without straining the budget.
Engaging Families & Community
My experience with VESL has shown me how important families and the community are in a child’s education. I’ll push for policies that strengthen the connection between home and school and encourage active community involvement in our schools.
I want families to recognize all that Stillwater schools have to offer and feel confident that our district is the best place for their children’s education.
Commitment to Equity in Education
Every student deserves access to high-quality education, regardless of their background or learning style. As a board member, I will advocate for policies that ensure all students receive the support they need to excel in math and reading. This includes a strong emphasis on early identification of learning needs and ensuring that instructional approaches are inclusive and accessible to all learners.
Stability
A healthy, functioning board is key to our schools' success. I'll prioritize collaboration, transparency, and smart decision-making to ensure the board works effectively. By creating a stable environment, we can focus on what truly matters: providing a top-notch education for all students.
My commitment to stability comes from knowing that strong, consistent leadership is crucial for our district's long-term success. I'll work hard to build trust, support our educators, and create an environment where students can thrive. The health of our district depends on a stable, dedicated board, and I'm ready to provide the leadership we need.
